Judging Stock Dog Trials combines the utilisation of knowledge of Rules for Trials, knowledge of livestock behaviour, experience in handling both livestock and dogs in a competition environment, and the discipline and concentration to establish a “level of standard” and maintain that level from beginning to end. All the while balancing the application of practical workmanship and the rigidity of rules.

Judging is a monumental task, but provides me with the challenge to maintain mental sharpness and the opportunity to constantly evaluate my own handling skills by viewing others from the judge’s viewpoint.

Rates for Judging Services are dependent on:

1) Number of Classes to be judged.

2) Expected number of entries in each class.

3) Duration of trial (number of days).

4) Travel, meal and lodging considerations.
